ILOSM fam,’ we’ve seen many things in our days, but very few of us have ever seen a 92 year old be as fierce as the iconic actress, Cicely Tyson!
After being in the acting game for 66 years of her life (since 1951), one would think that Ms. Tyson would be ready to just ‘kick off her shoes and relax her feet,’ like Xscape. But nuh uh…not this icon! In fact, these days she’s gettin’ her modeling on! The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman actress has just made her Elle Magazine cover photo shoot look effortless.
The magazine has just released photos of their November 2017 ‘Women in Hollywood’ issue, which will hit newsstands on October 17th. Although Elle honored several great actresses- Jennifer Lawrence, Laura Dern, Jessica Chastain, Margot Robbie, Tessa Thompson, Riley Keough, Cicely Tyson, and Kathleen Kennedy-for the Nov. issue, it is Ms. Tyson’s cover that has the internet flippin’ out and rightfully so. She KILLED it on the front cover and at 92 years young, we’re sure even the other seven actresses won’t deny that an accomplished icon like Cicely Tyson, deserves her shine. Check out her cover shoot below and an excerpt from her Elle interview.
Cicely Tyson’s New Magazine Cover
As you can see, Ms. Tyson looks incredible! And as we already know, she never fails to deliver a gem when she speaks, here’s an excerpt from her Elle interview:
[Cicely Tyson] on women who have influenced her career: “At the very beginning of my career, I had a teacher whose name was Vinnette Carroll; she directed a number of Broadway shows. She kept saying to me, “You know the problem with beautiful women? They tend to rely on their beauty.” And I said, How wrong she is! I never think of myself as being beautiful. I thought, What are you talking about? I work so hard. And I did. But I learned from her how important it is to learn your craft. When all else fails, you will land on that, and that alone.”
If seeing 92 year old Cicely Tyson still doing her thing, ain’t motivation- to all of us Old Schoolers- take care of ourselves, then we don’t know what is.
